Founded at the height of the pandemic by former Microsoft Head of Worldwide Business Applications Strategy, Ray Rasmussen, rGen is a business consulting firm with a simple vision: take businesses to the next level.
We first connected with Ray during COVID-19 when the whole world was learning to conduct business in a new, largely remote paradigm. Hitting it off straight away through a shared common ethos of leveraging technology for operational efficiency and better client experience, our relationship has only grown stronger over the years.
The Enablers of Transformational Change
Innovation has always driven business transformation. rGen guides clients through innovation and transformation – from business model and process design, to change management, to the adoption of game changing technologies. The result is an environment that allows rGen clients to outpace their competitors with dramatic business models and go-to-market shifts; operational changes that drive efficiency; and business insights that enable smarter, data-driven decisions.
What is new in the last five years are technologies that have matured and become increasingly valuable. Taken together these technologies at a minimum enable efficiency and, in the best case, make the dreams of revolutionary change possible.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Systems or machines capable of mimicking human intelligence and improving performance based on the information they collect to deliver several key capabilities, including automation of complex or repetitive tasks, data analysis (identifying patterns & predicting trends), and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
- Low-code development – Low-code platforms enable developers to create new applications with minimal coding using visual interfaces and pre-built templates. Drag-and-drop interfaces, reusable components, and easily configured integrations make it possible for non-technical teams to build internal and external tools quickly.
- No-code development – No-code takes this concept a step further, empowering non-developers to build apps, websites, or automations with 100% user-friendly interfaces.
- Robot Process Automation (RPA) – Utilize bots to automate repetitive, rule-based tasks, by mimicking a human’s interaction with software.
- Business analytics – A complementary follow-on to the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) performed by the Accountability Services advisory team, business analytics extracts actionable insights from operations and other data to drive decision making. Business analytics can be applied through a descriptive, predictive, or prescriptive approach, creating powerful visuals and dashboards.
rGen collaborates with clients to build the internal skills necessary to make the most of these technologies and to create an environment in which ongoing evolution is valued and embraced.
Accountability Services Helps rGen Plan and Make Big Investments
As the firm grows, rGen is always searching for top talent capable of learning the transformational skills needed to succeed in business consulting. Twice per year, the company brings in 10 candidates from around the country to participate in an 8-week Business Consulting and AI Foundations program.
Given the intensity and difficulty of the program, only half of the participants typically make it through to completion. To prepare and plan for this large bi-annual investment, rGen works hand in hand with Accountability Services advisors. The result: smart money management, increased profits, and a thriving rGen Consulting.
Teaming to Do More, Together
In just a few years, rGen has grown from a pair of consultants to a team of 16 with plans to add more people rapidly. While the general consulting industry has been in contraction for the last few years, the business transformation space is in growth, as virtually all businesses can benefit from innovation enabled by AI, low-code, no-code, RPA, and business analytics.
We’re excited to continue our close partnership and to be part of rGen’s next chapter.
